Sardinia Italy ~ History and Food

We visited a historical site, believed to be the first settlement on Sardinia in 8th century BC!  by Phoenicians.

Roman baths.  They had a fire pit under the floor to warm the water.  Hot tub!

Standing on a Roman road, from 2000 years ago!!! what?!!

There were mosaics everywhere.  This was a bedroom floor.  I could not get over how long this stuff had been here!

This theater was from 100 AD.   They have concerts here sometimes so... at least we have Rome to look forward to.

We had planned to swim at the beach here after our visit in the blazing heat of the day (like 88 degrees... I know Texans, but that was HOT in this crazy terrain!).  But we took one look at this crowded beach and drove back to our perfect little beach by our house!  Happy!

Here...

One of my favorite pictures!

We were even here long enough to have a favorite restaurant!  Everything we ordered here was so fresh and delicious.  So we came back on our last evening out and had a special dinner and dessert.  What a great memory!

here's a cheesy "Loving Italy" look...

            Emma had pizza every day

I ordered the most exotic plate.  The local catch... see the octopus?!  We all tried it and liked it!  John had actually seen one earlier in the week while snorkeling!

The tiramisu is what really brought us back here!  So we all ordered it for dessert...

...except for Jacob, who ordered the nutella pizza.  What a surprise, it was amazing too!

Sardinia Italy

We had an awesome vacation spot in Sardinia!  We stayed an entire week in a house just a few steps to the best beach!  Sardinia, part of Italy, is a large island in the Mediterranean.

We literally played on this beach every day, snorkeled, hiked along the coast, and ate a lot of pizza!

This is the front porch where it was always so nice and breezy.  We ate our breakfast and lunches here.

Emma spent a lot of time hanging out in this tree that was part of the front porch.

This house behind ours was very pretty.  But there was so much vegetation around the houses you really felt like you were the only ones around.

Sweet outdoor shower!  I've got one of these at my "dream house".  : )

In the evening we would bring our lawn chairs out here on the rocks and watch the sunset.  (I can hardly believe I just said that!)  Pretty amazing vacation!

Our beach...

I wish....        Always a few boats stopped near our cove each day
